At Define, we want to make your experience with our product to be excellent and smooth. However we understand issues may arise so we've compiled the most common questions and answers below.
If you don't find a sufficient answer, please contact our team at support@trydefine.com.
What should I do if I encounter an error with Define?
If you do encounter any errors with Define, please try reopening the document and rescanning. If your issue persists, please contact support@trydefine.com.
Can Define see the document I am working on?
Define does not process or store any information contained in the body of the document you are working on. The Define application works locally on your computer and does not share your document’s content.
Does Define work with Track Changes?
Define currently shows the latest, marked-up version of your document (in clean format) in the Define side panel. We are currently developing the ability to view the track changes in the Define side panel and this will be included in a future release (Fall 2020).
Where did my highlighting go?
If your highlighting goes away unexpectedly, try moving the scroll bar up/down to re-trigger the highlighting. Also, highlighting is disabled momentarily when editing the document or when you use CTRL+F.
What do I do if Define does not pick up a defined term?
Although Define is highly accurate at picking up defined terms, there are unique cases where our system may not identify a defined term. If a defined term is not picked up, check to ensure proper punctuation and syntax are used which is consistent with other defined terms in the document. If Define still does not pick up the defined term, please contact us directly at support@trydefine.com.
If I have multiple documents open, where does Define get the information from?
Define picks up a definition or reference from the document where such defined term or reference is selected.
How do I uninstall Define?
Go to Windows Settings → “Apps & Features” → Type “Define” in the search field → Select “Define” → Select “Uninstall” button.
How do I install/update the Define license?
There are two ways:
1) Open File Explorer/Windows Explorer → Type %AppData% into the address bar and hit enter → Navigate to the “Define” folder → Move the supplied “license.json” file into the folder.
2) Open File Explorer/Windows Explorer → Navigate to the “Define” installation folder (e.g. C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Define) → Move the supplied “license.json” file into the folder.
